The
"Dual Mode Guitar" or "Coaxial Guitar" as
I used to call it was invented by me in 1980 and patented in
1982. In that era, the American guitar companies were making
products that were as inferior as the American cars of the time.
Coincidentally, for some inexplicable reason 2 Chicagoans Dean
Zalinsky of DEAN Guitars and Paul Hamer of HAMER guitars were
making great Gibson inspired instruments. I, being from Chicago
decided I had to demonstrate my spinning guitar for one of these
guys. I called Dean because his office was close to were I was
working at the time and set up a meeting. Soon I found myself
in his office spinning my guitar for him. He said, "Fuck
off kid, your guitar is a carnival item!"
So I did fuck off and 3 months later on MTV, ZZ Top was playing
spinning guitars much like mine made by DEAN. I found out that
I could not sue him because it takes a lot of money to sue someone
so I just let it go. I did use the guitar in the videos that
are to be found on this website. In the early 1990s I did some
video work for HAMER and Jol Danzig made me a beautiful version
of the spinning guitar. There are 3 in existence. My 2 prototypes
and the one made by Hamer. Occasionally I have the desire to
strap one on but the belt will no longer fit around my waist.
